The Icon with Truck

I painted the first version of this scene on a Saturday morning during the Marble Falls Paint the Town Quick Draw event.  It's a very short time period to paint a scene plein air.  I wanted to put a vehicle in the bottom right corner, but I was afraid I'd screw up the quick draw painting.  That version was turning out pretty well, and I didn't want to spend the last few minutes trying to add a vehicle and mess it up, so I left that one alone.  I think I put a tree or a shrub in the corner, or something.  (Happy end to that story is that some tourists from Boston bought that version as a souvenir because they were about to visit the Bluebonnet Cafe for Pie Happy Hour).  Anyway, I spent time at home over that same weekend and painted the scene from a combination of memory and reference photos taken earlier.  This version has the truck.  I might even paint a third studio version with a Harley Davidson.
