Double Trestles

It was a happy surprise when "Double Trestles" won first place for the quickdraw event at the 2019 Burnet Art Festival.  I had just gotten home from an amazing and fruitful visit to Taos, New Mexico, and I was eager to put into practice what I'd internalized there.  I was in the "zone" while I painted, and I believed it might end up a clean, strong work when I laid down the lightest strokes on the roadway under the far trestle.  The contrast between the light of the road and the dark of the trestle wood attracted me, and I believed I could convey it well.  I am proud of winning this award, and I look forward to future challenges and adventures.
